Orange claims October was its record month for postpay connections
Orange stores had their best ever month for pay monthly connections in October, Orange's retail director has claimed.
Sian Doyle put the success down to the success of mobile broadband, the lure of laptops and the larger than ever mobile range.
Doyle told Mobile: ‘Orange Retail is going from strength to strength. Our Q3 financial results have just shown that we have taken the contract customer base above 6 million for the first time in Orange UK's history.
‘Footfall is actually down in stores, which is to be expected in the current economic climate, but we’re converting more customers than ever before.’
Orange is currently in the midst of refurbishing its stores, and has already given the new look to over 120 of them. The operator plans to refurbish a further 100 next year.
Doyle said: ‘We briefed the design agency (Quinine) to create a comfortable, non-aggressive environment. It’s also designed to make it easy for store staff to work in. One of the designers actually worked in store for a few weeks to get a feel for it.’
Orange currently has a total of 342 stores and plans to expand that figure to around 400 by the end of next summer.
