Five Vodafone staffers sacked over box-breaking
Vodafone has fired five staff members at a store in the East Midlands last week for flouting box-breaking rules, Mobile understands.

Staff members, including an assistant manager, had been selling large numbers of prepay phones to a single customer.

A Vodafone spokeswoman confirmed that ‘a small number of people have breached the code of conduct’.

One Vodafone retail source said that senior management were telling staff there is a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to box breaking, especially in its own stores.

The spokeswoman added: ‘We have developed several measures and sophisticated tracking tools to mitigate the risks, and we have clear guidance and a code of conduct in place for employees to follow to help reinforce our measures. The majority of our retail teams understand the severity of box breaking and support the initiatives we have in place.’
