Phones 4U beats Carphone Warehouse for new Prada phone
Phones 4u has beaten Carphone to stock the new LG Prada KF900 before Christmas.
Carphone will also sell the sought-after phone but not until the New Year. Orange will be the first operator to range the device, which is expected to be available for free on tariffs from around £35 per month. Other operators will range it, but Orange is likely to have a head start of around two weeks.
The KF900 will be on sale in Carphone and Orange stores from the end of November and has a 5 megapixel camera, 7.2mbps HSDPA, wi-fi and slow motion video recording. Unlike its predecessor, the device has a QWERTY keyboard.
Another difference is that the KF900 will be available in bundles with an associated device called ‘The Prada Link’, a wriststrap that allows the user to silence and reject calls and read texts without having to look at their phone.
The Prada Link also warns users with a vibration if they go out of the range of the Bluetooth, which LG says will help ensure users don’t lose the phone.
LG marketing manager Jeremy Newing told Mobile: ‘The LG Prada is targeting techno-chic prosumers who want gadgets with functionality.
‘It will have a similar positioning in the market as our first Prada phone, but we have taken into account customer feedback, which has led to a QWERTY keyboard being included. The people who want to use it are primarily business people.’
