T-Mobile offers G1 'Google phone' to indirect dealers
T-Mobile will release its G1 Google Phone into independent distribution from January 2009. The phone is understood to have sold modestly after an initial spike.
The retailer has already lowered the handset’s minimum monthly line rental from £40 per month to £30 in an attempt to boost sales.
Fletcher said: ‘We offered it as a direct exclusive initially, and it was always the plan to open it up to the rest of the market [in time]. The Android software is fantastic, there are so many strong applications on offer.’
The device has fought against heavyweight competitors – namely the Apple iPhone and BlackBerry Storm – since it went on sale on 1 November.
