LG Electronics has restructured its business units, in
a move that will see its mobile communications division’s executive vice
president and ceo, Skott Ahn, promoted.
Ahn will now lead the division in the new role of
president and ceo. It is understood the restructure, which intends to maximise
growth in existing businesses as well as develop new ones, will give Ahn more
influence within the firm.
The company has appointed or promoted 48 new
executives as part of its global chief’s plan to position it for long-term
success. The restructure is effective from January.
LG Electronics vice chairman and ceo, Yong Nam, said:
‘This strategy will enable us to capture even more of the ever-expanding
commercial market. It will also help LG expand the value chain from device to
solutions and help us to better address the lifestyle needs of our current and
At the core of the strategy is a re-alignment of its
four business units – digital appliance, digital display, digital media and mobile
communications into a new structure that includes mobile communications and
four completely new units.
LG will now consist of mobile communications, home
entertainment, home appliance, air conditioning and business solutions units.
