LG Mobile global chief promoted in re-alignment of the business

LG Electronics has restructured its business units, in a move that will see its mobile communications division’s executive vice president and ceo, Skott Ahn, promoted.

Ahn will now lead the division in the new role of president and ceo. It is understood the restructure, which intends to maximise growth in existing businesses as well as develop new ones, will give Ahn more influence within the firm.

The company has appointed or promoted 48 new executives as part of its global chief’s plan to position it for long-term success. The restructure is effective from January.

LG Electronics vice chairman and ceo, Yong Nam, said: ‘This strategy will enable us to capture even more of the ever-expanding commercial market. It will also help LG expand the value chain from device to solutions and help us to better address the lifestyle needs of our current and future customers.’

At the core of the strategy is a re-alignment of its four business units – digital appliance, digital display, digital media and mobile communications into a new structure that includes mobile communications and four completely new units.

LG will now consist of mobile communications, home entertainment, home appliance, air conditioning and business solutions units.
