LG unable to keep retailers stocked with KS360
LG has been unable to keep retailers stocked with the KS360, after an unexpected high demand for the prepay social networking phone.
Major stock problems have been reported by national sales teams, who said the manufacturer failed to anticipate its popularity.
LG’s head of marketing, Jeremy Newing, said: ‘Coupled with multiple market rollouts and the success it has enjoyed across these markets, the handsets cannot be produced fast enough.’
Sources said the phone is regularly out of stock, in some cases for a prolonged period.
A Carphone Warehouse salesman said the retailer did not have the handset
for one week. He added: ‘We’ve just been restocked; the levels drop very quickly.’
An O2 saleswoman agreed that the handset is ‘regularly out of stock’.
The indirect channel has also reported problems with getting the handset. One dealer said: ‘I don’t think they expected it to be so popular.’
