Dell rumoured to be entering the smartphone market
It is rumoured that Dell is set to enter the smartphone market with a touch-screen phone running Android or Windows Mobile.

The electronics company, which primarily sells PCs and laptops, would not officially confirm the news broken by Wall Street Journal on 30 January.

The Wall Street Journal has speculated that Dell had engineers working on the phones for more than a year from an office in the Chicago area, and that the prototypes had been based on the Android operating system and Windows Mobile.

It is thought the handset will be officially launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, later this month.
The news follows fellow computer manufacturer Acer's announcement that it would enter the handset market.
