Nokia to expand Maps functions with new software company
Nokia is set to expand its development of Nokia Maps after completing the acquisition of German software company Bit-side GmbH.

The manufacturer recently completed its acquisition of the company after initially announcing the deal on 27 Jan. The company which has 39 employees is a Berlin based software company.

The manufacturer has said that bit-side will strengthen its mobile development for Nokia Maps.

Michael Halbherr, vice president and head of social location, Nokia said: 'Acquiring bit-side enables Nokia to offer consumers the world-leading mobile location applications, such as Maps, along with routing and navigation at an accelerated speed.'
