Virgin Mobile has broken 3’s £9 barrier by introducing a £8.50 tariff. It will be available from today (February 10).
The monthly package will include 100 minutes and 100 texts and is available with the Samsung G600, LG KC550 and 3G Nokia 3120.
Virgin Mobile managing director, Graham Oxby, said: ‘In these financially challenging times where customers are tightening their purse strings, our market leading £8.50 monthly package will allow people to stay in touch without the added worry of a hefty phone bill.’
Customers will also be able to use Virgin’s mobile internet service to access sites such as Facebook for an additional 30p a day.
3 introduced a £9-per-month tariff, to entice prepay customers onto contract tariffs, last month.
The deal, billed as ‘the first single-digit mobile tariff in Britain’, offers 100 cross-network minutes, or 100 texts and 300 3-to-3 calls per month, free voicemail, Windows Live Messenger and Skype access.
