Samsung release solar powered touch-screen
Samsung is set to release a solar powered, touch-screen phone called Blue Earth.

The eco friendly phone from Samsung has a solar panel on the back of phone and is made from recycled plastic called PCM, extracted from plastic bottles. The phone is even designed to reflect nature by looking like a pebble.

The handset comes with an inbuilt pedometer so users can count their steps. The function calculates how much you have reduced your CO2 emissions by walking.

The packaging for the Blue Earth handset is designed to be both small and light, made from recycled paper, and the handset comes with a five star energy efficient charger.

A user would need to keep the handset in direct sunlight to keep it working not just in pockets.

‘Samsung’s “The Blue Earth Dream” demonstrates our small but meaningful commitments for the future and our environment,’ said Mr. JK Shin, executive vice president and head of mobile communication division of Samsung Electronics.

LG is also expected to release a solar powered phone.
