MWC: Sony Ericsson to launch 12.1-megapixel phone
Sony Ericsson will release a 12.1-megapixel phone, the first device in a new series of entertainment focused handsets called Idou.

The phone which will have touch features will launch in the second half of the year and is part of a new entertainment focused range from the manufacturer.

The phone will use what will be Symbian Foundation, and will mean users will be able to download new applications from Play Now, Sony Ericsson's music download system.

A new Walkman phone, the W995 was also launched. The manufacturer said it hoped it 'doesn't fall as flat as its more recent Walkman phones'.

The W995 will come out in the coming months and will include; an eight-megapixel camera geared for YouTube style entertainment.

The manufacturer said that the ‘Entertainment Unlimited’ is a proposition which Sony and Ericsson have been working toward since partnering in 2001. Lennard Hoornik, head of global marketing and vice president at Sony Ericsson, said: Everything that we have done to date has brought us to this point - we created the music phone category in 2005 selling over 100 million Walkman phones and we are now ready to unveil the next chapter in the evolution of the company - Entertainment Unlimited - giving consumers unlimited opportunities to share their entertainment experiences.’
