New Virgin Media stores look to employ ex Zavvi staff members
The new Virgin Media stores will employ some of the staff left without jobs after the collapse of Zavvi, in December 2008.
The last 450 Zavvi retail staff were set for redundancy last Friday (20 February), after administrator Ernst & Young announced the remaining stores will be closed.
The retailer had a total of 83 Virgin Mobile concessions in its 93 stores, with 270 staff.
Zavvi, formerly Virgin Megastore, was formed after a management buy-out of the Virgin Group division in 2007. It was the UK’s largest independent retailer.
