Carphone Warehouse cutbacks could affect up to 450 staff
Carphone Warehouse, Europe's largest mobile phone retailer, has announced that it is to make cut backs among its workforce. It follows an announcement earlier this week that Vodafone would cut around 5% of its workforce.
Early reports from Reuters suggest that 450 jobs will be affected. Mobile understands that the headcount reductions will be made among head office and admin staff, and that stores will not be affected.
We will have a full update on the position for the UK later in the day.
Separately, Mobile has learned that a list of 100 stores reviewed for closure has been reduced to between 20 and 30, and that these outlets will be dropped in favour of larger stores in the new Wireless World format.
