Nokia 5800 sales stopped in the US

Sales of the Nokia 5800 in North America have been stopped due to a fault on the phone.

The sales of Nokia’s first mass market touch-screen handset were reportedly stopped seven hours after release, when users complained that the 3G facility on the phone was not working.

A spokeswoman for the manufacturer said: ‘We have learned that some Nokia 5800 XpressMusic devices are having issues with 3G performance. Nokia is investigating the issue. Existing customers of the 5800 XpressMusic who experience 3G signal issue are advised to contact Nokia Customer Care.’

The manufacturer said the problem was isolated to North America.
