Orange is to test higher speed fixed internet on 300 customers
Orange is to trial 20 Meg speed home broadband on 300 existing customers nationwide.
The network aims to boost the speed of its broadband, which currently operates at a top speed of 8 Meg. The trial, which will last until after the summer, is to test the faster speed before it is made available to the entire customer base.
Orange has said the trial indicates an increased commitment to the home broadband market. It will put Orange in direct competition with O2, which already operates with a top speed of 20 Meg.
Director of broadband and home, Orange UK Asif Aziz, said: ‘This trial is an important step in enabling us to offer up to 20 Meg home broadband to consumers across our network. It is also testament to our ongoing commitment to evolve our fixed broadband service and ensure we offer customers a truly reliable user experience.’
