Nokia abandons N-Gage gaming on N73
Nokia has dropped plans to add its N-Gage gaming service to the N73 model, despite announcing its intention in 2008.
The manufacturer originally promised to add the gaming service to the world’s best selling smartphone ‘soon’, but has since decided that the phone’s computing power is too limited.
Nokia’s mobile gaming push has encountered major challenges over the years, including consumers shunning its dedicated phone. Its online gaming service, which opened in 2008, is yet to move beyond a niche audience.
The manufacturer said it aims to eventually sell all digital content through its new online Ovi store, but will keep a separate N-Gage gaming service, at least for now. Nokia has sold around 20 million N73 devices.
