Asus partners Skype to offer video calling device
Computer manufacturer Asus has launched a Skype video phone device allowing free calls over the internet without a computer.
The Asus Eee Videophone is priced at £220 and will be available from Amazon.com and the Skype shop. It is a portable device as it does not need to be connected to a computer to use Skype.
Customers can use the phone to call other video enabled Skype devices. The Eee Videophone allows users to make and receive calls to and from fixed and mobile lines at extremely low-cost rates with a subscription to Skype, an Ebay owned company.
Earlier in 2009, Asus partnered satellite navigation company Garmin in an alliance that could see a range of smartphones. Asus currently supplies some operators with its netbook, the Eee PC.
