Vodafone bulks own brand handsets with further releases
Vodafone has launched further own brand handsets targeting the low-cost prepay sector.
The ‘catwalk collection’ is a revamped version of the existing 527 handset bringing more colours to the range. Handsets cost £30. Meanwhile the Vodafone 533 slider will be out later this month, also priced at £30.
The phones come with a built-in camera, MMS, FM radio, MP3 player, Bluetooth and external memory slot.
The handsets were announced a Mobile World Congress in February. Vodafone’s global director of terminals Jens Schulte-Bockum said that Vodafone branded handsets saved the operator between 20%-30%.
Vodafone claims that one in six of the handsets it ships are own-branded handsets. The operator also announced the 227 and 228 handsets at the conference.
