T-Mobile hires chief marketing officer in restructure
T-Mobile has hired the former Capital One chief, Srini Gopalan, as its new chief marketing officer. He will take on the role in June.
Gopalan will head up the operator’s revenue development through customer relationship management, loyalty and retention, brand development and all marketing communications. He will indirectly replace Phil Chapman, who left T-Mobile in November 2008 after three years as marketing director.
The move is part of an overall restructure of the company’s marketing which includes the formation of a single customer relationship management (CRM) team within the UK marketing department.
Gopalan was previously managing director for Europe at Capital One Bank. Before becoming managing director in 2007, he was head of marketing and analysis.
Gopalan will now join new T-Mobile managing director Richard Moat, a former Orange Romania veteran who is expected to join the company imminently. Mobile reported Moat’s appointment at the start of this month.
