T- Mobile G1 sales to hit 100,000 in six months
T-Mobile has claimed that its G1 Android phone will hit 100,000 sales within six months on the market.
The mobile operator said the G1 had ‘outstripped’ sales of all other T-mobile handsets. The network also confirmed that it will launch its second Android-based device later this year.
T-Mobile’s head of internet and entertainment, Richard Warmsley said: ‘Sales of the T-Mobile G1 have exceeded our expectations – we are very excited to hit the milestone of 100,000 units sold in just over six months.’
Warmsley continued: ‘We’re looking forward to launching another groundbreaking phone on Android later this year.
Android, the open platform software owned by Google is to receive an update in May. The 1.5 update will add features such as; touch-screen keyboard and video record and playback.
Vodafone will shortly release its first Android phone the HTC Magic. Samsung recently unveiled its Android device, a touch-screen to be released in Germany in June.
