saw modest mobile growth of 0.4% to £1.08bn, while data revenues and 3G have
seen a surge on last year. The network reported its results for the first
quarter ended 31 March 2009 today (29 April).
total revenues were down 0.6% to £1.12bn, compared with the same period in
2008. Data now accounts for 24.8% of revenues – up 3.3% on last year.
Meanwhile, the operator added 125,000 pay monthly
customers, taking its total base to 16.8 million – 9 million prepay, 6.6
million pay monthly and 977,000 broadband customers. Orange saw an 82% increase
in 3G customers on Q1 2008, to a total base of 3.8m
Customer ARPU was £271 – up £3 on the first quarter of
last year. The network’s MVNO base quadrupled in one year to 585,000, compared
with 137,000 in Q1 2008.
