Orange adds £5 tariff on 36 month contract
Orange has added a £5 tariff to its pay monthly range, a move it claims is the lowest price point in the market.
The new tariff will be available alongside new £10 and £15 monthly plans and will be available from today (1 June) on a 36 month contract.
The operator will provide customers with two handsets during the period – one when they first sign up and another after 18 months. Orange will also introduce 18 month Sim-only contracts for the first time.
The £5 pay monthly tariff offers 50 free minutes, 50 free texts and a Nokia 2630 handset, while the £10 deal offers 100 minutes and 300 free texts with a Nokia 3600. The £15 tariff offers 200 free minutes, unlimited texts and a Nokia 6500 slide.
Orange UK director of pay monthly Neil Macgeorge said: ‘In the current economic climate, the demand for both low-cost monthly plans that include a phone, and SIM-only deals has materially increased.
‘These new 36 month phone plans starting at £5 will provide light users with more choice since currently their only option is a prepay package. They are ideal for people who don’t want to go through a top-up process, are happy to commit to a contract, want the security of knowing that they won’t run out of credit and who want a phone included in the package.’
