O2 threatens to disconnect customers using iPhone tethering feature for free
O2 has warned that customers using the new tethering feature on the iPhone 3.0 update without signing up for a Bolt On will be disconnected.
IPhone users that have installed the new update have reported it is possible to use the tethering solution, which connects the iPhone’s internet to a laptop, for free.
Several hacks on the internet have been discovered that allow customers to use the iPhone's tethering capabilities without using the Bolt On.
O2 said: ‘Any use of this particular feature without the purchase of the Bolt On is specifically prohibited under our terms of service.
‘Under those terms we reserve the right to charge customers making modem use of their iPhone or disconnect them.’
The tethering Bolt Ons cost £14.68 per month for 3GB of data, or £29.36 for 10GB.
