Fonehouse revamps targets criteria in move to volume bonus from July
Fonehouse has overhauled its targets system by introducing a volume bonus, as it looks to step up its franchising plans.
The new system, which is set across all stores, will pay staff commission up front from July. It will replace the old criteria of individual targets and will be a ‘sliding volume’ target based on £5, £10 and £20.
Fonehouse managing director Clive Bayley told Mobile that the new system had been introduced to ‘control targets’ and reward staff for concentrating on T-Mobile and Vodafone. He added: ‘We want to push Vodafone a bit more.’
Bayley (pictured) said the overall pay structure had been ‘changed slightly’, but the volume target meant pay would stay ‘around the same’.
Meanwhile, the retailer is beefing up its franchise team by employing two managers – one field manager and another in its head office. The two recruits, who will start next week, have been taken on as Fonehouse pushes ‘harder and harder into franchising’.
The retailer opened two new franchise stores in Sussex on Monday (22 June).
Franchising gives the small retail chain the opportunity to open new shops with little risk. Fonehouse has been in business for almost 15 years and has an annual turnover of around £20m.
