O2 expands mobile broadband offering
O2 today announced that its mobile broadband customers will have access to around three thousand BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots for the first time.

The partnership comes into effect from today with many of the ‘hotspots’ found in most Starbucks outlets.

O2 will also be upgrading ‘Connection Manager’, a free piece of software that allows users to connect to the mobile web through their O2 data card and manage GPRS, 3G and WLAN connections through a single interface.

The new software will automatically copy existing Wi-Fi profiles from a customer’s laptop into Connection Manager during the initial installation process.

This will connect users to their home or business broadband wireless networks, without the need to manually enter security codes. The upgrade will also see the addition of a data counter, enabling users to monitor and control their data consumption more easily.
