Vodafone offers roaming data bundles
Vodafone is offering bundled data packages for customers whilst abroad in the wake of the EU cap on roaming charges.
The network is the only operator so far to offer roaming rates in bundled packages. Customers using Vodafone’s passport can access up to 25MB for £5 per day.
The deal which equates to 20 pence per MB, will come in on 1 July alongside new EU regulations on roaming charges for data, which put a cap on roaming charges. Customers can also buy a 50MB bundle for £10 for use on their laptops.
EU regulation also comes in tomorrow which will place a cap on the amount operators in the EU can charge customer for using voice, text and data abroad.
The rules put a retail price cap of 11 euro cents (9p) on texts sent while roaming - a substantial cut on the European average of 29 euro cents (24p). The legislation will also put a cap on data charges of 1 euro per megabyte (83p) on the price of downloading data - though this applies only to the charges operators levy on each other.
Vodafone recently cut roaming charges from the beginning of June on voice and texts for all Vodafone passport users. The offer applies for three months until the end of August.
