3 poaches O2's Paul Foley in latest bid for business
3 is making its fourth bid to crack the business market and has launched an ambitious business strategy to offer more than just cheap rates.
The operator has had three previous attempts at the business market, with customer service, network, lack of BlackBerry devices and perception of the brand cited as significant obstacles.
3 has drafted in Paul Foley, who used to work at O2. He will be responsible for all aspects of building a credible business proposition and will report directly into Marc Allera.
Distributors of 3 have been told to expect a more ‘thought-through’ gameplan towards the business compared with past attempts during the last four years. Distributors will discuss 3’s plans in scheduled meetings.
However, some dealers that Mobile spoke to are still sceptical of the opportunities and offers that the large consumer network can give them, with many saying businesses are not as driven by small price differences as consumers.
One dealer said: ‘It’s not just price for business customers. Businesses won’t jeopardise the running of their business for a small saving. They want reliability and 3’s brand is unfortunately not as credible as the bigger players, and represents a bit of a risk.’
