Huawei launches femtocell device aimed at wider markets
Huawei has launched a new end-user oriented Femtocell device, dubbed Femtocell 2.0, aimed at allowing operators to drive the device out to wider markets.
The technology company announced the new device at the Femtocell World Summit on 2 July.
Users of the device, which is currently being trialled with leading European operators, will be able to use a standard broadband connection and have in-door 3G coverage for handsets. It supports applications for streaming videos, video conferencing and mobile broadband.
Mr Jiang Wangcheng, president of UMTS said: ‘Having a robust yet versatile Femtocell device that is able to gain wide market acceptance is a key challenge faced by all operators. We are committed to working with operators worldwide to further drive the uptake of mobile broadband by offering a compelling value proposition to end users.’
