LG to launch UK app store before the end of the year
LG will launch an app store in Asia tomorrow and is preparing to unveil a UK version before the end of this year.
The ‘LG Application Store’ will offer a mix of free and paid for apps, initially providing 1,400 apps, including 100 free programs. By the time the service goes live in the UK, it is expected to offer over 2,000 apps.
LG hopes the service can replicate the success of Apple’s App Store, which has achieved over a billion downloads in its first year. Nokia and Samsung have also entered the App Store market, but have made considerably less of a splash, while Sony Ericsson’s service went live earlier this summer.
