Carphone makes loss prevention team redundant
Carphone Warehouse made 12 loss prevention staff redundant last month as part of the ‘fit for purpose’ job cuts announced at the beginning of the year.
The 12 field staff, assigned by division or territory, made up the loss prevention field team - they audited stock loss in retail stores and were responsible for investigating cases of lost or stolen stock.
The responsibility for loss prevention has now been centralised and will rest on regional general managers.
The move comes as part of its ‘fit for purpose’ cost cutting scheme announced earlier in 2009, and is included in 550 previously announced job cuts.
A Carphone spokesman said: ‘12 roles within loss prevention were made redundant as part of fit for purpose. Accountability for loss prevention now sits regionally with the appropriate RGM's, supported by experts within loss prevention to ensure processes are robust.’
