Motorola appoints ex-Samsung chief William Ogle as chief marketing officer for mobile
Motorola has appointed former Samsung marketing boss William Ogle as chief marketing officer for mobile.
The manufacturer is aiming to make a return later in 2009 after effectively mothballing so far this year.
Ogle (pictured) will lead marketing efforts for Motorola’s mobile unit and will be responsible for marketing, advertising, brand strategy, management and execution. He will report to CEO Sanjay Jha.
He indirectly replaces Jeremy Dale, who left his global role of corporate
VP for marketing at Motorola in February this year.
Most recently, Ogle was chief marketing officer for Samsung telecommunications America. Prior to that, he served as chief marketing officer at Pizza Hut. In his 12 years at Pizza Hut, he helped reposition the brand and achieved significant sales and share growth.
Jha said: ‘This is a pivotal time for Motorola’s mobile devices business, and I look forward to working with Bill, as we prepare to launch an enhanced portfolio of exciting new products in the later half of 2009 and beyond.’
