Orange relents with unlimited texts on Nokia 5800 Comes With Music tariffs
Orange and Phones 4u staff were buoyed by news that Orange has issued an unlimited text allowance on the Nokia 5800 Comes With Music phone.
The move addressed what retail staff believed was the major factor in poor sales of the device so far.
It is the second tariff improvement in little over one month, on what is a critical proposition for Nokia.
The retailers will now offer an unlimited text allowance on £35 per month tariffs, after the original deals generated low levels of consumer interest.
Orange and Phones 4u initially reacted to low demand by offering an unlimited data allowance on the £35 per month tariff from 1 July.
One Phones 4u salesman told Mobile: ‘Sales have been awful and we think it’s mainly due to the text allowance. Hopefully, this will get things going because we’ve been getting nowhere near our targets.’
Mobile originally reported the issue in June, when Orange said it had ‘no immediate plans’ to change the tariff.
