Orange store held up by armed robbers in west London
Orange is tightening security in its stores following a raid by armed robbers on its west London shop on Portobello Road in recent months.
The store is believed to have been held up at gunpoint by robbers on a Sunday morning as staff were preparing to open the store.
The robbers cleared all the phones in the store and left the staff in a state of shock.
It follows similar robberies at Orange stores in Chiswick, and Kilburn in north-west London.
It is believed police are investigating the issue and are exploring the possibility that the robberies are linked.
A spokeswoman for Orange said: ‘We can confirm that an incident involving theft took place at the Orange store in Portobello and the police are investigating the matter.’
She added: ‘The welfare and security of our employees is paramount to us. We have robust security measures in place and are constantly working with the police to ensure we take all necessary precautions to best protect our employees.’
