T-Mobile MD sets target to be third-biggest operator by 2012
T-Mobile MD Richard Moat has pledged to propel the operator to the number three position in two to three years' time.
Moat, who took on the role in June, has set a target for the network to be the third-biggest operator by revenue by 2011 to 2012, the Financial Times said.
Meanwhile, the Guardian reported that Moat is willing to talk to his old employer Orange, if it is looking to share its network after being jilted by Vodafone’s network share with O2 earlier this year. T-Mobile currently shares its network with 3.
Moat also told the Financial Times that he is looking to increase T-Mobile’s market share in the UK by increasing contract customers, as they generate more revenue than pay as you go customers.
Currently, O2 has a 27.7% market share, Vodafone has 24.7%, Orange has 21.5% and T-Mobile UK has 14.9%, according to Enders Analysis.
