New Facebook app for the iPhone launched

A new Facebook app for the iPhone has been launched in Apple’s iTunes store.

The app, which is an upgrade to the previous Facebook application, will have a number of new features and a change in the way the user interface is organised. It is available for free.

Notifications are now located at the bottom of the screen, with nine categories laid across it. Users can choose between news feed, profile, friends, inbox, chat, requests, events, photos and notes.

The application, which is the third version of the social networking site, will also allow iPhone 3GS users to upload video files for the first time.

Other features include the ability to RSVP to events, and the ability to write notes and create new photo albums. IPhone and iTouch users will also be able to zoom into photos and upload photos straight to their accounts.
