3 announces launch date for mobile Wi-Fi
3 is launching its mobile wireless modem, dubbed the ‘Mi-Fi’, across its sales portals from 17 September.
The device allows customers to access a Wi-Fi connection – if a 3 Sim is placed in the miniature device – to access the internet on the move.
It will be offered on two price plans, one on a contract basis and another upfront paid-for kit. A one month rolling contract will cost £15 a month and will include 5 GB of data, with the modem costing £69.99.
The upfront package costs £99.99 and will include the modem and 3GB worth of data that can be used for three months and thereafter on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Sales and marketing director at 3 UK, Marc Allera said: ‘Mobile Wi-Fi is the future of internet access on the move and we’re bringing it to customers at price points that make it accessible and affordable.
‘It’s the perfect gift for people after genuine wireless internet access on the go to complement the laptops and iPod touches that will undoubtedly make their way onto Christmas lists across the UK this December.’
