Start of Nokia World sees new products and services launched
Nokia is launching several new phones and services in the last quarter of 2009 in an attempt to grow its business in new directions.
The manufacturer has begun to make announcements during the first day of Nokia World in Stuttgart, Germany today (2 September).
The company unveiled two new Comes With Music devices, the X6 and X3. The X6 is a touch-screen that comes with 32GB of memory and can play up to 35 hours of music.
It has also revealed the pricing for its Booklet 3G mini-laptop, launched last week, which will ship for around £504.
Nokia will launch the N97 mini in October. The smaller version of Nokia’s latest smartphone will ship at around £395 and comes with features such as a QWERTY keypad, and will include Nokia's new So-Lo concept - social networking and location based service.
Users will be able to share location, pictures and status with anyone in their network via Nokia's new 'Lifecasting' tool.
People reading the update can then click a Nokia Maps screenshot of users’ location right in Facebook.
Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said: ‘Nokia aims at reaching the many, not the few, with our rich portfolio of services. We are doing this through an increasing number of open partnerships with world leaders in many fields.
‘We are proud to lead the charge in smartphones and beyond as manifested in the Nokia N900 and Nokia Booklet 3G, two great examples of how the world is changing and Nokia is driving this change.’
Nokia World will continue tomorrow.
