Nokia UK MD Mark Loughran confident of success through partnerships
Nokia UK MD Mark Loughran is confident that the manufacturer will reverse a period of decline through partnerships and by integrating products and services.
Loughran spoke to Mobile yesterday from the Nokia World conference in Stuttgart.
He said: ‘It’s about having a great consumer experience on the device. The 5800 and N97 have been very good sellers.
‘Also, Facebook – software and integration into our devices – this is how we will compete.’
Yesterday, Nokia revealed its new So-Lo concept - social networking and location-based service.
Users will be able to share location, pictures and status with anyone in their network via Nokia's new 'Lifecasting' tool.
People reading the update can then click a Nokia Maps screenshot of users’ location right in Facebook.
Loughran said the ‘more competitive’ mobile market meant it was necessary to form partnerships to be successful. He said: ‘You have to do it through partnerships.’
‘The N97 Facebook widget has been a fantastic success, and the BBC iPlayer transformed the use of that player on mobile (N96).’
