Spotify launches Android and Apple apps
Spotify today (7 September) opened up its services for mobile users by launching apps for the iPhone and Android simultaneously.
The music streaming service will be available to premium subscribers in the UK, Sweden, Spain, France and Norway.
Over the past few months, there has been intense speculation about Spotify mobile apps and in particular whether it would be approved for the iPhone.
Both applications can be downloaded for free from the Apple app store or Android Market.
Users will be able to search for music and stream it, as well as, create and synchronise playlists.
Spotify’s director of portable solutions, Gustav Söderström, said: ‘This is a hugely significant day in Spotify’s short history.
‘Since our launch last October, we’ve worked hard to provide our users with a high quality service that gives them access to whatever music they want, whenever they want it.’
