Dealers and distributors ‘positive’ over merger
Dealers and distributors have remained positive following the merger between Orange and T-Mobile, with many believing it will lead to increased competition between the networks.
Details of the merger remain thin on the ground, but dealers agreed it will have a significant effect.
HSC business manager Bob Sweetlove (pictured) believes the deal will settle the market. He said: ‘It is a positive thing as it ends the speculation and the combined business will be stronger. It is exciting, but we don’t know what the implications will be for independent dealers.’
Orange’s exclusive partners have also supported the joint venture.
Andrew Boden, MD for Orange-only distributor Mainline, said: ‘Although Orange is doing a good job of keeping us updated about the planned move, the details are limited as the deal is yet to be finalised.’
Meanwhile, dealers of Orange’s rival networks also remained positive. An O2 centre of excellence dealer told Mobile: ‘The union will have a significant effect on the dealer landscape and to the end user, and it will simplify the choice to both. O2 doesn’t see acquisition as a part of where it needs to be though, it wants to grow organically.’
