Ofcom mis-selling complaints plunge

Mis-selling complaints have plummeted from over 600 per month to less than 200 per month since Ofcom first proposed tough new rules, which came into force on Wednesday (16 September).

However, Ofcom said the number of complaints is still far too high and operators must work harder to prevent mis-selling.

An Ofcom spokeswoman said: ‘This is obviously an improvement but we want to see these figures come down even more under the new rules.’

The regulations, known as General Condition 23, cover all mobile sales and marketing practices.

Failure to comply could see networks fined up to 10% of their margins.
