O2 announces BT partnership for fixed line

O2 announced a strategic partnership with BT today (16 September), unveiling the first ever product from this partnership for SME and large corporate businesses at a media briefing in central London.
The move sees a diversification for the corporate brand, which for the first time will move away from its core mobile business.
O2’s launching its new ‘Joined Up’ communications service will provide businesses with one single converged solution for their telecoms requirements spanning mobile, fixed line, data, broadband communications, equipment and professional consultancy.
The new service will see O2 take on Vodafone, which launched an extension of its partnership with BT last week, as part of a combined fixed and mobile service for SMEs.
O2 business sales director Ben Dowd told Mobile this morning: ‘This is part of our strategy to be the comms integrator of choice by 2012. Outsourcing telecoms to us will provide cost savings and efficiencies to small businesses and large businesses.’
The service will launch on 1 October. See next week’s Mobile for more details.
