Thieves steal Digital Britain Laptops
Digital Inclusion Team (DIT) was digitally excluded for a while this morning
after thieves broke into the team’s offices in Soho, London and stole its computers.
The DIT is
responsible for connecting around 17m Britons not yet online and led by Martha
Lane Fox, who co-founded lastminute.com in the late 1990s.
The news was broken on Twitter by Digital Champion
Martha Lane Fox. She tweeted: ‘O bloody hell the#digitalinclusion office has
been broken into and all computers taken.’
A spokesperson for Martha Lane Fox said that ‘a
couple of laptops’ had been taken in the burglary.
The DIT is funded by the Department for Communities
and Local Government.
