Samsung Mobile appoints Stanford as sales director

Samsung Mobile has appointed former O2 man Simon Stanford as sales director. Stanford will replace Jon French, who left the manufacturer to head up HTC UK earlier this year.
Stanford will be responsible for leading his team to drive sales and increase market share of Samsung’s new ranges of handsets, smartphones and accessories across the UK.
Prior to joining Samsung, Stanford was head of connected markets for O2 UK, where he was responsible for the overall general management of the retail, services, media, leisure, IT and telecoms sectors within corporate sales.
During his six years at the operator, Stanford held a number of senior roles at O2 including head of trading and prepay marketing manager. He was also the co-founder of the O2 Real Directors.
Prior to O2, Stanford worked for Orange in the business marketing area.
Samsung Mobile VP Mark Mitchinson said: ‘With over 11 years served within the UK mobile telecommunications industry, Simon recognises the scale of the opportunity he is about to undertake.
‘The industry acknowledges that Simon has joined a team of highly motivated, capable and passionate professionals, hungry for more success.  It is an exciting time for Samsung Mobile with the launch of so many ground-breaking and innovative devices, we are delighted to have secured Simon’s services and feel sure he will play an integral role in our future plans.’
