Retail staff react to Orange iPhone announcement

Orange retail staff across the country are anxious to find out when the iPhone might be available to sell.

Orange staffers were sent an email this morning from Orange CEO Tom Alexander (pictured), who was unable to confirm when they will actually be selling it or the pricing it will be available on.

However, he did say: ‘This is a fantastic endorsement of our company, our brand and you – the people who make it all happen.’

An Orange staffer said: ‘We were updated this morning and it is the first official thing that we have heard about it, the announcement was very much a “watch this space” type of notice.’

Meanwhile, staff at Carphone Warehouse were not surprised by the development, with many claiming there had been stock shortages for the last few months.

A Carphone staffer said: ‘We haven’t seen one for four or five weeks. I don’t know what’s going on, but we can’t get the stock. Maybe Orange getting it is an explanation.’

Another staffer said: ‘Every single model is out of stock and we are having to refuse customers, it’s unbelievable.’
