Vodafone notifies staff of iPhone ‘success’
Vodafone retail staff were emailed today (29 September) to announce that the iPhone will be available to be sold from early 2010, but were told it would not be available to employees straight away.
In the statement sent out across the retail estate the operator said: ‘Existing and enterprise customers will be a priority as it’s our way of saying thanks for being patient.’
In the email to retail staff, Vodafone acknowledged that Orange will be selling the iPhone by the end of the year, but rebuffed its position by listing a number of points explaining why customers should choose Vodafone.
The points included; the importance customers place on reliability, awards for mobile broadband and the iPhone complimenting the existing range of handsets available on the network.
The world’s largest operator also notified its distribution partners in the indirect channel that ‘Vodafone has been successful in its attempts to secure the iPhone.’
