Nokia creates separate departments for mobile phone and smartphones

Nokia has created two new departments, mobile phones and smartphones, within the devices unit and changed its management structure as a result.

The two new units became operational on 1 October.

The current chief financial officer, Rick Simonson, will be in charge of the mobile unit and overall strategic sourcing of the entire devices department.

Nokia’s head of global sales, Timo Ihamuotila, will take the position of chief financial officer.

Nokia CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said: ‘After six successful years as CFO, it is great to have Rick move to such an important operational role. Rick Simonson's deep knowledge of the business and its financials will be valuable for the significant part Mobile Phones plays in Nokia's business. In addition to his background in finance, Timo Ihamuotila's expertise from leading a diverse range of business areas will be a tremendous asset in his position as CFO.’
