3 launches ‘Spotify’ music service tariff

3 has confirmed a UK partnership with music streaming service Spotify and HTC.

The operator will be offering its customers a new tariff specially tailored to the music service from November.

The service will only be available on the HTC Hero, initially for £35 a month, with an additional upfront fee of £99.

Customers will be tied into a 24 month contract, which will include unlimited Spotify premium for mobile and PC, 750 cross-network minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited email and internet browsing.

3 director of products & services, Charlotte Blanchard, said: ‘This partnership continues our commitment to bring popular internet services to our customers. Spotify Mobile is a fantastic digital service which gives consumers the ability to enjoy and share music in an affordable way.’

Spotify global head of business development, Faisal Galaria said: ‘This is a very exciting deal for Spotify. We're intent on offering people a high quality, simple yet powerful portable music experience at a fair price and we're thrilled to be working with 3 to bring Spotify to UK music fans.’

HTC Europe executive director, Jon French said: ‘The HTC Hero is about personalised communication and therefore has a natural synergy with Spotify and 3. The Android platform gives the consumer the option to tailor their Hero to their specific wants and needs. Whether it’s listening to the music they love or communicating with friends and family via a range of internet services, the Hero allows you the freedom to use your phone as you please.’
