Acer is planning to grow its smartphone market share into double figures by 2014 with the launch of a host of new handsets
The new entrant to the smartphone
market plans to release another eight smartphones next year to add to the nine
handsets it has so far released.
Acer announced its launch into the
mobile phone market earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress.
The firm’s first Android-powered
smartphone, the Liquid, will be available by the end of November.
It comes with a new user interface that
gives access to entertainment and web bookmarks. It also sports a
five-megapixel camera with geo-tagging, self-timer and accelerated auto-focus.
The Liquid Spinlets application allows
free streaming of music and videos.
Pricing and distribution for the
Liquid has yet to be revealed.
Acer is the leading netbook provider
with a 36 per cent share and is second in the notebook market behind HP.
