HTC 'puts foot to floor', says French

HTC is ‘putting its foot to the floor’ to outpace new competitors and the economic recession, says Jon French HTC’s UK and Ireland country manager.

Looking to the future French told Mobile this week that the mobile phone market would continue to be tough into 2010, with increased competition from new entrants.

He commented: ‘There have been tough times and everyone has had to work harder and although we are still growing the business, it is going to continue to be tough going through to 2010.’

He added that the rise of Android had upped the stakes.

‘What Android has done is increase the number of players that want to come into the market so players need much more experience to stand up to more competition, so we are putting our foot to the floor in terms of market investment.’

French said sales of the recently launched HTC Tattoo were doing well, judging early results. He said: ‘It is early days but the response has been great.’
